I'd like to get a trailer hitch on my truck before the spring, I have a bunch of renos to do around the house and will be doing a number trailer load trips to the dump...can anyone suggest a good place to go for a hitch, I'd imagine Toyota will charge through the teeth...I can probably install something myself but would like to do so with little to no modification, a simple bolt-on solution would be best, are they difficult to wire up? I'd also like to get the maximum capacity for the truck (class 5) in the event that I need to tow something heavier in the future like my '69 VW on a trailer...

Suggestions/help would be appreciated...

type "trailer hitch Guelph" into Google and you will get a number of results, you can look online or call places and get the best price,

for things that come in box's i like to think it doesn't matter where it comes from because it was all put in the box in the same factory so a Reese hitch at van and truck world might cost more then the same hitch at Canadian tire.

thanks, I figured so much about the rebranding...I'll give CT a call...is wiring a challenge, any ideas on whether my truck might be pre-wired from the factory? I don't really know where to look for an existing harness, I stuck my head under the back end this morning just to see if there appeared to be anything resembling a harness but couldn't find anything...

you should be able to pick up a wiring kit specific for you vehicle at ct, t&vworld etc. go with a minimum class lll hitch, that will give you pretty much everything for light to medium duty. they are rated for 5k lbs towing capacity, depending on your choice of trailer, tongue weight will need to be factored in as well.

if your not very confident about tapping into your wiring harness with a splice in kit. then you should be able to pick up a plug and play wiring kit from Canadian tire TSC has them too. they normally unplug a tail light or something smiler and plug in the harness and sometimes you have to maybe wire in a ground or a power wire witch isn't to difficult.

and yeah I would get as big a hitch as you can. might as well buy one now that will meet your needs and possible future needs then to find out you didn't buy enough hitch.

also check u-haul i bet they have decent prices and they just put there own sticker on other hitch manufactures products. id install it myself though if i got anything from u haul haha

thanks guys, I got all screwed up there, I guess Class III is what I want, shouldn't think I could even attach a Class V to the truck, I clearly have no idea what I'm talking about...CT in Guelph only has a Reese receiver on the catalog for my truck and they list it at $225 which I thought was pretty good, I was thinking it would be more in the $400 range but they don't have any in stock so I'm likely going to order one tomorrow if I can't find another one in town...I checked out the Reese website and they have a pretty clear installation diagram on there for my truck so I'll definitely be doing it myself...as for the wiring, if it's as simple as tying it into a tail light harness then I think I should be more than capable of sorting that out...

Check out princess auto, they usually have lots of hitches at a pretty reasonable price.

A general rule of thumb when you go wheeling with Jeeps guys. Either be first in line on the trail or make sure the trail is wide enough to get around them when they break.

From what I understand from when I priced out the hitch for my wife's car... Hidden Hitch, Reese, Draw Tite are the same hitch only branded different.

I used the wiring harness that splices into existing wiring. It was pretty simple. The kits come with the connectors that snap/connect to the existing wiring so no soldering required.
